ROCHESTER, Minn. Former Ohio Rep. James Traficant walked out of a Minnesota prison Wednesday morning after serving a seven-year sentence for bribery and racketeering.
The nine-term Democrat from Youngstown left the Federal Medical Center in Rochester and stepped into a waiting cab.
Traficant, who wore a gray T-shirt, white shorts, white knee-high socks and had his famously wild hair pulled back, ignored a reporter's shouted question.
He faces three years of probation. He hasn't said whether he will retire or try to return to public life.

I would expect that he’ll show up on the cable shows pretty soon. He has to be good for ratings, because you just never know what he’s gonna say!
To: Justaham
He can join the Obama lexicon and become the BIZ CZAR!

He faces three years of probation. He hasn't said whether he will retire or try to return to public life. Might as well return to public life. He'll fit in nicely with the current bunch of criminals.

His rants on the House floor were hilarious if not amazing.
He would be a perfect guest host for SNL.

He’s a petty criminal. The big boys never liked him getting the spare change they left laying around.

Greatest press conference ever.
He called his colleagues a bunch of political prostitutes. When congress demanded an apology, Traficant called a press conference and apologized to prostitutes everywhere.

Hes a petty criminal. The big boys never liked him getting the spare change they left laying around. You have that right. He was nabbed for stealing cookie crumbs while the leadership that he constantly mocked was making off with the whole damn bakery.

Trafficant was more conservative than most Democrats and Republicans. He got screwed even though other politicians did worse things than he did.

If I had a choice between Trafficant and a Voinovich/Dewine clone for the Senate. I’d probably vote for Jim Trafficant.
To: KarlInOhio
LOL Wild hair indeed. Traficant was more populist than conservative and just a little crazy. Murtha and crew make him look like a paragon of virtue. He will make a good Larry King guest.

Cant believe it has been 7 years already. I’m sure MSNBC will begin pushing him to run for public office much like they have with Spitzer. ‘Cuz he stands up for the little people dontcha know
To: MiltonFriedmanFan
Traficant is a conservative. They hate him as much as they hate Palin.
