Mpls (Police)Officers Investigated for Off-Duty Antics (Thuggery, Boorish Behavior)

The Minneapolis Police Department’s internal affairs unit is investigating a police softball team after an alleged night of drinking and brawls.

The softball game itself was in Northeast Park last Tuesday, where Minneapolis police took on Minneapolis firefighters.

By the time the off-duty Minneapolis officers arrived at the Double Deuce strip club, still in their softball uniforms, the owner told FOX 9, the cops were so intoxicated that the bouncer wouldn't let them in the strip club.

The owner says the officers even started flashing their badges, trying to intimidate the bouncer. And in retaliation, one of the officers allegedly urinated on the club's wall. The incident was caught on video.

With closing time nearing, the team went to Mayslak's Bar a few blocks away. The owner and staff told FOX 9, the officers picked a couple of fights and told patrons no one could stop them because they were all cops.

Folks, I'm normally a defender of law enforcement. But as a resident of the Peoples Republic of Minneapolis, I can tell you that the police are really starting to act up - both on and off the job.

Last week, the Minneapolis City Council set up a $500,000 payout to a guy who was cold-cocked by a Minneapolis cop - for believe it or not, little or no reason. They did it to avoid having to pay out a potentially larger amount if the case had gone to trial.

Comments or opinions - anyone?

That's your first problem. It all went downhill when they went from peace officers to law enforcement.

“Thuggery, Boorish Behavior”

Sounds British to me?

up until a year or two ago, i never heard anything about minneapolis. since that time i have read (mostly on here) multiple articles about near riots in certain neighborhoods, whites being victimized by blacks in crazy, unprovoked, gang-style attacks, and now this story emerges. what the hell is going on there?

based purely on anecdotal “people I know from Minnesota” evidence, i would classify the citizens there as being very non-judgmental liberals who are...intellectuals...my social science being finely tuned, i estimate that these same white liberals have allowed boorish behavior to spiral out of control in the inner city of minneapolis and now it’s another SE Washington, DC.

just my drive-by opinion. note to self: never go there.

Stories like this should bring it home the fact that when the government gets too powerful... it attracts the psychopaths that had been restrained by societal norms up to now...

While hesitant to paint cops as bad guys in general, they sometimes develop bad attitudes. When they then flock together in social “cults”, aided by liberal application of alcohol, bad attitudes lead to bad behavior.

This situation is doubly dangerous because they attempted to abuse their “police authority”, and because “peace officers” should be the last group engaging in excessive alcohol consumption.

It now remains to be seen if “internal affairs” whitewashes the incident, which will lead to further and worse abuses, or comes down on them like a ton of bricks.

Fairly accurate assessment for having never visited the place.
The city is filled “intellectual elitists”, who constantly punish the cops for doing their job, scaring them, and then turning the other way when they finally act out. And this is what is happening a lot of the cops are fed up and acting out because of the lack of accountability that is going on. It’s a mess and I’m glad I live in my outlying suburb 30 miles away from that socialist wastoid.

There is a Blaine officer who would fit right in with this group. He made me very uncomfortable when I ended up locked out of a home I was watching for a friend when his dog knocked me down in the garage and the door slammed shut with my keys inside.

The officer refused to help me contact another friend with a spare key...locked me in the back of his car, finally taking me to the friends house and kept saying how bad I had messed up by allowing myself to be locked out.

The friend wasn’t home so I asked if he could get me a name of a locksmith and was told that wasn’t his job. I told him “fine...just let me out of the car and I will call information”. He wouldn’t let me out. Kept telling me I really messed up this time. Really scared the he!! out of me! He finally got me a name of a locksmith, was told it would be a while before they got there. This was January, in the late evening. Very cold, no coat. I waited for the locksmith for almost an hour, standing in the garage, trying to keep warm.

It's just so sad that the small percentage of bad cops give all of the good cops a bad name. /s
