Apple can be the new Microsoft right now. All they have to do is drop prices, and they’ll quintuple their perpetual ten percent market share at least.

I don’t want Apple to be microsoft, I tend to like a system that works that is backed by outstanding service!!!!!

No kiddin. I was hoping even Microsoft would change their ways with Windows7, but nope, you have to figure out the flavor and to get one usefull, you still shell out too much wallet.

They have a ten percent share, and that's where it will stay as long as their computers stay expensive.
Had they struck while the iron was hot during the height of the Vista crisis, they would have already taken a serious bite out of microsoft. But for some reason they chose to give microsoft a chance to come out with Windows 7, which by most reports is better than Vista. Instead of acting to seriously cut into microsoft's sales, they chose to leave prices high and release a cute commercial instead.
Doesn't seem like a great strategy, but I guess if you're happy with ten percent, you're happy with ten percent.

Profits...Apple and the stock holders are happy with their profits.

And you don't feel those profits would increase if they cut significantly into microsoft's market share?

You are a mathematic moron. I would not trust you to bag my groceries at Kroger. Lead has a value, so does gold.

Interesting article. Just hope Apple continues on as they have the last few years and continues to put out a stable & useful platform.

By selling loss leaders? Probably not.

Microsoft became the new Apple for a while with Vista. Windows7 will get Microsoft out of loserville and ding dent damage demolish destroy Apple’s superiority complex
Vista was actually OK but got a bad aura due to stumbling and confusion when first released. Really, Vista service pack cleaned up most problems. But onward to Windows7 and a new era for PCs. I’m using it on two computers with no complaints except the search could have a better GUI. If you are speedy greedy and needy (demanding) then Win7 is what you want.
