"...Someone out there owes us an explanation. Someone not human enough to stop Sunday evening after they ran over my cat not three yards from my driveway.
Thankfully, the cat didn't suffer. As I gently scooped my orange-furred pal off the road, I wondered what kind of person drives away after killing a member of my family.
His name was Doctor. I'm not a cat person, but if you knew Doctor, you didn't have much of a choice. He threw himself at you until you had no recourse but to love him. His eyes were slightly crossed and he drooled when pet more than 30 seconds. There were times I went outside at night to commiserate with him, when he was the only living thing willing to listen to my problems. The raccoons just hiss at me.
At the very least, his killer could have summed the courage to come to the front door and explained why they couldn't evade a slow, 10-year-old cat who was three-quarters the way across the street....

The democrats? Of course. I have an attorney on speed dial for the ensuing lawsuit.
I’m with you. I don’t get it either.
I’m good with cats......
....out to about 200 yards.
what if the driver didn't see the cat, or would have hit an 18-wheeler if they swerved to avoid the cat?
you love your pets so much, don't put them out into the world alone. how about that?
I am so sorry for your loss and for humans like the one that did that to Doctor.
As my vet said “cats outside, live short violent lives”. Next time you get a cat that means a lot to you ,keep him in the house or this will happen again.
poor kitty ping. The anti cat establishment has chimed in here
Sad story about the fellow's pet cat. God has blessed us with animals to eat, and to enjoy as companions. But if its a case of putting a person's life in danger - by either slamming on the brakes, or recklessly swerving the car - a person's life trumps an animal's life any day. By all means - try to avoid killing the animal, but sometimes it is unavoidable (I nailed a couple of chipmunks once... Sorry guys - I didn't see you).
I remember that incident on Highway 85 (in the South Bay) around 10 years ago. A man with his family pulled his mini-van off the road (but still in a dangerous area) and ran out to try to catch a dog that was wandering on the Highway. He endangered his life, but what was worse - a car struck the mini-van and killed his child... I'm sure that well-meaning fellow is haunted by his actions to this day.
Yes, we are to be good stewards of God's Creation and to care for the animals -- but never put a person's life in danger, even if it means running over an animal. Every person is made in God's image and every soul is precious.
If there is any chance of endangering your's, or someone else's, life by making a rash maneuver with the car - don't do it. The animal loses.
O hai. Wazn’t mee! Kthxbai!
It hurts to lose anything or anyone that you love. A pet can be all that some people look forward to seeing each day.
lol .
i felt terrible. the noise was..ugh...oh well he/she is in kitty heaven
In China they have very tender puppy on a stick. I hear it’s less filling. http://tinyurl.com/nmezmo
And yet he has the nerve to complain about a CAT getting hit?
Obviously this guy is an idiot. If he really valued this recently departed cat, he would have KEPT HIM INDOORS where he belongs!
Actually, it’s 101 uses for a dead cat.

Let’s see: small, hard-to-see animal walking in the street where big cars go ZOOM. I’m as shocked as anybody that the cat would get injured in such a situation. One thing that might help the author get through this trying time is if he makes at least a small effort to be a man. He’ll cry about far less inevitable things that way.
