Report: Cassel could miss 2-4 weeks

Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel has a strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and could miss the Chiefs' season opener and beyond, Yahoo Sports! reported on Monday.
Citing a source within the organization, Yahoo Sports! reported Cassel could miss two to four weeks. He was hurt Saturday night when sacked on the third play of a 14-10 preseason loss to Seattle.
The Chiefs open the regular season Sept. 13 at Baltimore. They return to practice Monday and are expected to have injury updates on Cassel and others, including wide receiver Devard Darling (leg).
Tyler Thigpen is Cassel's primary backup.
Cassel was acquired by Kansas City in an offseason trade with New England and signed a $63 million, six-year contract with the Chiefs. The contract contains $28 million in guaranteed money.
Cassel replaced injured Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the first week of the 2008 season and threw for 3,693 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Will KC ever have a great season again?

I was at the Pro Football HOF a couple of weeks ago and saw the new Lamar Hunt Super Bowl wing. A couple standing next to me were stunned to discover the Chiefs had actually played in let alone won a Super Bowl.
This story made the sports news in Baltimore this AM because he probably will miss the opening of the regular season.
Ravens announcer Rob Burnett said Sat night during the game he thought the defense was ahead of the 2000 Ravens D he played on at this point in the pre-season.
We’ll see what they have when they play the Patriots Oct 4.
Marty has done that to a few teams. The Chargers should have beaten the Pats in the 2006 season playoffs (and won the SB) but bad coaching calls left the Pats a chance to steal it.
KC has done it a few times. Gannon is one, Blackledge was another. Why KC took Blackledge, and not (let’s see) Elway, or Marino is beyond me. Kenny was a good QB he just couldn’t keep from getting hurt. Montana was used up by time KC got him, and his heart was still in Miami anyway.
I’m a Broncos fan. For years I have felt that being a KC fan would be the most frustrating fanship.
The Broncos barely beat youzguyz on their way to beating the Packers in SBXXXII, I still wonder how the chiefs would have fared. The Broncos beat the Pack by more points than they beat KC; and an ‘iffy’ call decided that game.
Are we doing a FR pick-um league for the NFL??
