Yes, it reminds me of the scene from the first Godfather when the heads of all the NYC families show up for Don Vito’s funeral as the new Don Corleone looks on. The newly dead lies there, and the same old, same old business of evil and mayhem is conducted, as if God’s judgment was something quaint and altogether dismissible. It was disgusting and sacrilegious when done by Hollywood; it is the same when done by CNN at Teddy’s funeral. And when you add little children to the mix in order to augment the sacrilege, it is still more repulsive. Well, it just goes to show that you can mock God either informal, low church style, all the Paul Wellstone travesty, or formal, high church style. Good job, Ted, as the patriarch of the family you have trained them well in the way they are to go.

Maybe that’s why the pope had the good sense to say nothing, when nothing good could be said ... de mortuis nil nisi bonum.
