I’ve noticed something odd in this year’s clothing catalogs: They are not updated. Usually every company’s catalog will feature at least some new garments for the big fall catalogs, but this year the catalogs contain nothing that wasn’t in last year’s catalog, or even further back. I am not seeing anything in Spiegels, Newport News, and other clothing catalogs that I didn’t see in 2008, maybe 2007 and earlier. They are apparently not adding to inventory, but rather trying to get rid of the things from the last few seasons without discounting them as clearance, by passing the older stuff off as “This season’s must haves!” and hoping no one will notice.
