Actually, the picture in the article is of one of the current owners. There’s a reference to a picture of the owner’s mother and the cat, but it’s never shown.

Me too. Someone in the comments section suggested that the *original* cat died long ago, and was replaced without the owner’s knowledge to save her the grief.

That’s the most plausible invention.

36 years old?

A cat that old would be really tough.

Not if you used a slow cooker.

I know this seems odd, but perhaps this cat substantiates some of the research being done that shows that mice can live much longer if they are on a reduced calorie diet.

I’m acquainted with a horse that lived to be 46. Seems unbelievable, but the age of a Thoroughbred horse can be easily substantiated because a code number indicating the year of its birth is tattooed on its upper lip, and the information can be confirmed through the Jockey Club. And this horse did not even die of old age, but had to be humanely destroyed after it broke its leg trying to jump a brook.

Good story. The problem is the substantiation. I'm sure Guinness will not be sloppy in their investigation.

Tizzie was found dumped in a bag on a railway line by two girls in 1973 -- and 36 years later she is still going strong.
Okay, no Leslie Uggams jokes please.

Did you understand that article? These people, the Cowell's (mother and son), have owned the cat since 1973. For more pics, try the link in post 25.

It's not even the same cat! Compare the position of the white streak in the photo from 1973 with the current picture.

The black area doesn't go beneath the cat's right eye in the picture from 1973. The story is baloney.
