Never got past PFC, and got out in 2, instead of the 4 he signed up for............................... Well that proves one thing, he was dumber than Al Gore who made e-5 in 11 months and got out early to become a minister. Politically connected? Nahhhhhh.
It does not take away a thing from those buried there who are deserving of the honor.
I recognize that I cannot really fathom how many of you Vets feel about this.
It is my understanding that because of space limitations, current policy is that only KIAs and those who serve with significant distinction are allowed burial there. An honorable discharge is simply not enough anymore.
you are correct, i read this very thing somewhere published by arlington...all honorably discharged veterns are allowed interment in the columbarium though...
Not only that, Arlington Cemetery belongs to we the people.
In the past few years, Arlington Cemetery has become a private cemetery for the Kennedy clan. For example, there is no reason, ever, for Jackie to have been buried there.
Unfortunately, Ted was in the military vacationing in France His father made sure of that. He went in at the lowest rank and stayed at that rank until he was discharged.
Thank you.
P.S.
Please read through the posts here.
I learned a lot...things I did not know until just now.
Just because he was some drunk in the military for 2 years and throughout his life, does not make him eligible for Arlington. Less Jackie.
Damn that makes me angry!
I read that if he was awarded the highest US Civilian Medal allowed, then that person can also be buried in Arlington. President Bush (43) did award him such a medal. I served 23 years on active duty and I am NOT eligible to be buried there though.
P.S. again.
I believe a couple of Jackies unborn children who didnt reach term are also buried there along with their last child who lived a few days after being born while Jack and Jackie were in the White House.
Illegal toxic waste dumping is indeed a crime and nothing to joke about!
Well can we burn him in an open pit at Groom Lake? Bill Clinton signed the EO that made that legal.
“So then what did Jackie O do to get in?”
Spouses of elected officials can be buried with the elected official. Spouses of Medal of Honor warriors don’t get that honor.
Recently visiting Austin, I learned that Texas has a special place for highly-decorted veterans of any state, and permits the spouse to be buried there in honor with the veteran.
I personally knew a MOH recepient who refused to be buried in Arlington because he wanted to be buried with is wife, so he was buried at that Texas Veterans cemetary in Austin.
Au contraire; they say that Teddy actually did a hitch in the Army. Being Army myself, I am not at all proud of that fact, if indeed, it IS a fact.
It is true, as I have found out on this thread.
Youre not by yourself partner, but ther aint a damned thing we can do about it. In fact not much we can do about anything since our Representatives stopped representing us and decided we werent smart enough to think for ourselves.
How about a Google search instead of a vanity?
Well, you could try to get elected to Congress?!?!?!
The whole idea was to spark a discussion of the issue.
The question was rhetorical, but the outrage is not.
