Jerry Lee Lewis is releasing his first country CD since the 1970s later this year, which will feature several tracks written by Kris Kristofferson.

The first single, "Mean Old Man," will be released by Shangri-La Music and be available for download Tuesday...

It marks the first new music from Lewis since the duets album "Last Man Standing" in 2006.

Lewis will tour Brazil, Las Vegas and Europe this fall to promote his new songs and his classic hits like "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Great Balls of Fire."

He turns 75 on Sept. 29.

Has he run out of first cousins to marry?

I think he ran around for a while with Robert “Barrata” Blake’s old flame, the one who was shot. Good thing he got rid of her!

I love his music.

Last time I saw Jerry Lee a few years ago, he did a fast version of Kris Kristoferson’s Me & Bobby McGee

I don't know how accurate this is:

Jerry Lee Lewis is releasing his first country CD since the 1970s later this year,

I seem to recall this one had its country moments:

Wasn’t Jerry Lee suspected in the suspicious death of at least one of his wives, 15 or 20 years ago?

He’s out there somewhere everynight where the music’s playing loud
Doing all the 50’s steps in a 1980 crowd
The dim lights hide his milage lines
The clairol hides the gray
And he won’t mention anything that gives his age away

Oh, he’s thirty nine and holding
Holding everything he can
From 17 to 25 to prove he’s still a man
He’s holding a candle and it’s burning at both ends
He’s thirty nine and holding
Holding everything he can

You can bet he’ll never see 39 again
He should have turned loose long ago
But still, he’s a hanging it in
He still thinks that he’s the man that he used to be
He’s thirty nine and holding and acting 23

Oh, he’s thirty nine and holding
Holding everything he can
From 17 to 25 to prove he’s still a man
He’s holding a candle, my GOD!
It’s burning at both ends
He’s thirty nine and holding
Holding everything he can

I don’t know if Jerry Lee went out with Robert Blake’s murdered girl.

I know that she was a good friend of Linda Gail Lewis, Jerry’s sister, and that she had an affair with Linda’s boyfriend or husband (don’t recall the relationship).

Jerry Lee Lewis is releasing his first country CD since the 1970s later this year,

Guess this must mean he's burnt through all his money.

After a certain age, "shaken" becomes "jigglen".

“Last Man Standing” is a terrific album. He and KK should sound good together.

I would’ve liked “less is more” from Last Man Standing. Some of it sounded overproduced to me.

Okay with the concept. Liked the lead cut.

Not as big a fan of the rest.

Give the man a piano and keep everyone else from stepping on his work.

Kris Kristoferson is a brilliant song writer.

"Sunday Morning Coming Down" is the world's greatest hangover song ever.

___

And the beer I had for breakfast wasn’t bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
