He is deceased according to an article I found from his son. BUt he was alive in 1961, He was the Kenyan Olympic team doctor to Mexico in 64.

Trying to find out now if the Young man who carried his name, and was killed in the USA, while a student, is a member of his immediate family...

'68, which is what William Ang`awa's site says. The '64 Olympics were in Tokyo. '68 was the "Black Power" salute year. Kenya's team took 3 Golds, 4 Silver (including the 4x400 relay) and 2 Bronze. One Gold and One silver were taken by Kipchoge Keino, one of Kenya's most famous athletes, and current head of it's Olympic Committee. He beat American Jim Ryun to win the gold in the 1500 meters, by a good 20 meters. I remember watching that. You can watch it On You Tube

Ryun was a Republican Representative from Kansas from 1996 to 2007. He was the last American to hold the world record in the mile. He was kicked out, in part because he denied knowing he was a neighbor to Mark Foley, whereas they'd hosted a joint block party fundraiser. in the Great Debacle of 2006, which was preparatory to the Greater Debacle of 2008.
