I believe that if you take a Vitamin D supplement (available nearly everywhere) with Calcium you will get additional benefits.

I read somewhere that it’s difficult to get enough vitamin D orally (from food or supplements) and that the sun is your best bet. Another reason why I don’t wear sunscreen. How can the giver of all life on earth, the sun, be bad for us? Moderation, moderation, moderation.

I have been taking vitamin E for some skin damage I took in fall.

Anyone here hear about “Codex alimentarius” and its implications on vitamin standards?

In my case I measured low on a Vitamin D blood test. The doc puts me on 5000 units a day and zooms me to about 30% over the high end of the norm. So I've backed down to 1000 a day and am awaiting the results of a blood test to see how I'm doing. I really think keeping your vitamin D level in correct range is very, very important.

I think that's true of much of what's in supplements. Good reason to space them over the day, usually with meals.

That’s it! I’m going to stand in my backyard ‘necked’ for 20 minutes a day. To hell with skin cancer!

Yes, thankfully I have a 10’ fence. Prayers for the eyes of the wildlife.

The norm may be low considering that most of us spend most of our time indoors.

I hope you're old enough to be thought merely eccentric. ;-)

Codex Alimentarius, Wikipedia. One of the many things the U.N. shouldn't be involved in.

Vitamin D is a *fat soluable* vitamin, so don’t do the skim milk! However, you’d have to drink an awful lot of milk to get adequate D.

I take Bio-D-Mulsion, it is a liquid and the dose is 2000IU per drop.

People can make 10’s of thousands of IU of Vit. D from the sun. The older you get, the less you can make directly from the sun. Overweight/obesity also interferes with Vit. D synthesis.

You can search on Michael Holick for confirmation of what I have written here.

Let’s hope Google satellite is out that day.

I take 1000 IU’s a day. Hey, it can’t hurt.

I have been thinking about the Swine flu. They say S.F. boost the immune system so greatly that your body over loads on white cells and shuts down. If one takes Vitamin D to boost immune system and acquires S.F. could that be doing harm.
