I have to disagree with everyone of you good people. The problem is not with R.C. Johnson; the problem is not with Calipari; nor is it with Derrick Rose. The problem is with the hypocritical institution known as the NCAA. It is this phoney cartel that pimps people like Rose who wants to use his world-class athletic skills to earn a living but is practically forced to masquerade as a student-athlete for the benefit of those who exploit him. At the end of the day it should not matter whether he took an entrance exam. He wasn't recruited to be a scholar. He was brought in to win ballgames - and he did just that. It's not Rose who should have to take the blame for a game fixed by well-educated, well-heeled, capitalistic white men. Rose, CDR, Joey, Antonio, Robert, and all the rest of the players are the victims in this sham the multi-billion dollar NCAA calls college amateur sports.
The NCAA cleared Rose to play.
THEN they turn around and hose Memphis for their mistake.
Selective injustice imposed by narcissistic tyrants.
Meanwhile, shallow headline-readers parrot the spittle-flecked mouthings of media buffoons, and once again, the truth is obfuscated, and the one who is responsible basks in darkness on his pile of green.
To be clear, I am not piling on you, bert...especially since it appears your conference-loyalties are in order, HA! :)
Indeed, the comment on the Commercial Appeal site is quite instructive, as it clearly portrays the mindset of the typical closet-racist liberal.
You see, individuals aren’t responsible...institutions are. Especially those populated by (insert hate-filled, envious pejorative here) white men.
