HOUSTON Four Hurricane Katrina evacuees are charged with wrongfully obtaining federal rental assistance after buying new homes financed by Oprah Winfrey's "Oprah's Angel Network."
The U.S. attorney's office in Houston says Darlene McGruder Poole, 30, of Houston, and her sister, Lashona McGruder Victor, 37, of La Place, La., are charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.
Kiesha Murphy, 34, of Houston, and Angela Payne, aka Angela McKinnies, 38, of Houston, are charged separately with making false statements to FEMA and theft of government property.
Murphy declined to comment when reached by telephone Wednesday. Calls to Poole and Victor went unanswered. A listing for Angela McKinnies was disconnected.
Telephone and e-mail messages were left late Wednesday for Winfrey representatives.

this really dumb belief that any TV celeb. is out to help the common man, is bogus. These people need to stop watching TV and get a job.
That is a real awakening....Oprah is just a person who wants to stay famous as a black talker .... that’s all.....
Couldn’t agree with you more.
They are for ObamaCare.
Only 4?
There’s no telling how many leechf#*&s scammed us using that hurricaine. I hope there’s a special place in hell for all of them.
More fabricated “victims” bite the dust.
Think of how much money Oprah conned out of people for her “angel network” when she paraded these con artists around to generate sympathy donations.
And to think that Dems used the Katrina event to attacked Bush last presidential elections. And these are the kind of people the libs are protecting!
Those darn Amish try to get away with everything.
Next thing you know, they’ll be trying to raise a Barn without a Building Permit.
hmm did not know that!
What, Eric Holder isn’t dropping the charges against these “victims”?
