12-Year-Old Boy at Texas Rangers Game Beats the Odds, Wow!

Last night I was watching the Texas Rangers play the Boston Red Sox, and I ended up seeing one of the most incredible odd-defying feats I have ever seen at a baseball game.

In the 5th inning Josh Hamilton for the Rangers was batting and hits a foul ball into the stands. Not that big of a deal right but the really cool thing is it was caught by a 12-year-old boy (the only info we have is his name is C.J. from Cedar Hills, Texas) with his glove cleanly. It was smiles and high-fives all around and I was thinking how special that was for this kid.

Then the impossible happened, not three pitches later in the same at-bat Josh Hamilton hit another foul ball and the same kid caught it again in his glove cleanly. The entire crowd erupted giving him a standing ovation.

Your welcome. I’ve got a buddy who has access to some corporate season tickets at Turner Field. He has probably been to 300 games and never caught a foul ball. He must be in the closet sobbing.

I caught 3 extra points at an LSU football game in the 60’s...

Everyone around me told me I should keep the 3rd one, but the usher came and got it...that was back when they made you throw the ball back onto the field.

I was pissed...

I saw a guy catch a foul ball with his mitt at a Dodgers game in LA in the 80’s. The funny part about this, was the guy was at least 35 and he brought his mitt and caught a ball.

Mine was bare handed but I've been known to take a glove to a game and wear it and I'm 50!

Regards,

TS

Dude, really?

This kid caught two fouls from the same at bat: Josh Hamilton’s first and third foul balls. The broadcasters said they had never seen it happen before. They gave the kid a golden glove trophy for it.

Years ago I was at an Indians game and a foul ball came back, hit a few rows behind me, and rolled forward. I had just gotten back from the concession stand, however, and had a popcorn in one hand and a drink in the other.

I had a choice, to toss either the popcorn or the drink, and grab the ball, or let the ball keep rolling.

I let the ball roll on.

At a Manatee game (Melbourne Florida then Marlin minor league team) One lady down the right field line got nailed in the side of the head. Not good, then on stretcher going out of the stadium, got hit again. Not her day.

Did Hamilton offer to buy him a beer?

Ha! Wouldn’t that be funny?

I think he gave him a signed jersey and I *think* he signed both baseballs for him.

From what I heard on the radio, the kid was in the hospital earlier in the week and Hamilton promised to hit him two foul balls.

I'm sure this will be the funniest thing I'll read on FR today. Thanks!

Mike Krukow - SF Giants announcer - always says, “Bring a glove, get a ball”.
