CNN- Olympic gold medal swimming champion Michael Phelps was involved in a traffic accident in Baltimore, Maryland, on Thursday night, but was uninjured, police said.
Police reportedly interviewed swimmer Michael Phelps about the crash and then sent him home.
Phelps was driving one of two vehicles that collided at an intersection about 9 p.m., police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told reporters at the crash scene.
The female driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital as a precaution, Guglielmi said. Phelps' two passengers were also uninjured...
The crash was under investigation, Guglielmi said. Phelps was being interviewed, he said, but would not disclose where the interview was taking place. WBAL was reporting as of about 10:45 p.m. that Phelps' interview was complete and he had been sent home.
Guglielmi said authorities would determine whether alcohol was involved in the crash, but said that is standard procedure for any crash. He added that alcohol was not believed to be a significant factor in the Phelps crash, or it would have been obvious to responding officers.
Phelps won a record eight gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Earlier this year, he was suspended from organized competitive swimming after a photo of him holding a bong -- a device commonly used to smoke marijuana -- surfaced in February.

They only said alchol was not a factor... did the mention anything about a bong in the passenger seat?
‘Phelps on the way to becoming a caricature?’
Maybe. Car accident? Check the ashtray.
He would be much better looking as a caricature - that is one homely guy.
