Because the entire attitude to Biblical interpretation is different.

In Catholicism you are not free to come to your own conclusions about what part means what. We have a creed- a philosophy and a few absolute points of belief - the Bible fits that, through the use of reason, as established by the Church long since.

There was a fashion for millenial thinking in the Church over 1000 years ago, but this has mostly been gone for the subsequent 1000 years.

And this is not limited to Catholics either, many Protestant denominations, as well as all the Orthodox, have similar positions.

I recommend a good book on St. Augustine to start.

It’s such an important section of scripture, especially for now when we see Israel becoming a nation in 1948, the Jews returning ‘home’ after the dispersion, and other events that we feel clearly show the soon return of Christ. People need to be more aware, especially Christians. I don’t think the church always interprets scripture correctly and if the Holy Spirit can’t teach you, who really can? Read it for yourself. You aren’t stupid and neither is the Holy Spirit. I know interpretations differ, but He is able to show you what He means.
