Civil Lawsuits cannot lead to jail time.

But, my reading of this is the school made a “settlement” in civil court.
It appears in this case, the judge is holding the teachers to the agreement with the ACLU. He (She) is therefore holding them in contempt of court.
Which puts the coach and the school principal in criminal court.
Principal Frank Lay and athletic director Robert Freeman are scheduled to go on trial next month on criminal contempt charges. If convicted, both are subject to fines and imprisonment.
Now, if you want to argue that the ACLU is not pressing the criminal complaint you’d be right.
You’d also probably be a lawyer.
