The season's final major is here!!! The PGA comes back to Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, MN where 156 players get a crack at glory's last shot and try to walk away with the Wannamaker Trophy. Last time we were here, in 2002, little known and unheralded Rich Beem held off Tiger Woods for what is still regarded as one of the biggest suprises in major championship history. This time around Hazeltine will show off the longest course ever in history, playing at 7,674 yards at par of 72.
3 of the 4 par 5's on the course, numbers 3, 11 and 15 will play at 633, 606, and 642 yards with number 7 playing at a "short" 572 yards.
Hole 14 plays as a short, 352 yard par 4 and the hole may be shortened to 318 yards to entice players to go for the green.
So lat's have at it boys and girls. Does Tiger win #15 this week and his 3rd event in a row, or can we expect another of the many6 world class players, like Masters' champ Angel Cabrera, US Open Champ Lucas Glover, or Open Champ Stewart Cink Or another to have something to say about it....
In other words, you don’t want those wusses making you look like a baby banging its rattle on the ground.
No, I just prefer not to hop into the playpen at all. But you, feel free.
My picks:
1. Tiger Woods (of course)
2. Some unknown from The Field who has never won a major.... Let's say Jay Williamson.
Well we could go the older route and go with......FRED COUPLES!!!
7,672 yards??
If my math is right, that’s 4 1/2 miles!!!
I had the opportunity to walk the course twice Monday and again yesterday morning, my legs are still a little stiff.
Well day 1 has come and gone and are we really suprised???
That Padraig played well shows either the swing changes are working, or his game and mind are in complete harmony right now.
And with the average score over par, I wouldn’t imagine a huge lowering of scores the rest of the week. If Tiger, or anyone shoots a lot lower than -10, course designers worldwide should just throw their hands up screaming, NO MAS!!!
So just to clarify. How many times was Stupid’s name mentioned in Tiger’s sppech??
Is the answer ZERO????
That’s what I thought!!!
Supposed to be very windy today. We’ll see if the AM bunch has it better again or not.
330 pm PT here.. Lehman is +2 for the day thru 14, cut looks like +4.. Mickelson looks to advance at that.
WOW!!!! Looks like Rees Jones won bigtime today!!! The longest track ever in professional golf showed it’s teeth today and pretty much gobbled up and spit everyone out!!!
Which makes Tiger’s 70 look like a freaking 65. And Ernie Els’ and Vijays’ rounds were great, if not spectacular!!!
I’m glad Phil at least made the cut and can play the weekend. If he can play well enough the next 2 days it would do him much good indeed......
So who can get Tiger? Vijay can. Padraig still can, even though limping home didn’t help, he is only 4 back. Rory McIlroy sure the hell can. This kid’s got it all and could make plenty of noise over the weekend!!!
WE SHALL SEE.........
Did anyone see Worwy McIlwoy’s GF when he walked in?
Is he old enough for those?
No I missed it, of course!!!
She a hottie, yes.....
Oh and guess what!! We’ve got ourselves a tournament now for sure. Lots of star power within striking distance. Vijay holes it out for eagle to stay 3 back. Padraig playing great again. Lots of people lurking too.....
A little help boys!! Remember on 16 when Tiger hit his 2nd shot into the drop circle adjacent to the green?
I was busy with customers but when the shot was hit I thought it was buried in the deep garbage but when they showed him before hitting his 3rd shot, the ball was sitting up in the grass and even Faldo said he was given a drop, at least that’s what I thought I heard Sir Nick say.
The question on the table is, was Tiger given a drop or not?
He hit it as it laid.
This is my relocated command center now that I have total control of the living room system area.
From L to R are the monitors 19" for watching FOX and secondary information channels. In the middle is the iMac24"display 2.66mHz 4GigRam and 500Gig on board HD. Then, a Vizio LCD32" for up close sports and PS3 playing. Off Screen to the left is another Vizio 42" LCD for the main screen viewing. For emergency use or visitors, a MacBook is available for rental...HA!!
Total HD space is 3.0TB, plenty of space for digital video recording and photographs. This setup allows for the simultaneous viewing of golf, racing and baseball/football as needed. Mrs. GRRRRR never really did understand the need for multiple monitors and one can never have enough HD space...
PERFECT!!!!!
Now I know what is meant by Life is Good!!!!
Y.E. Yang...didn’t start playing until he was 19. Maybe a little different WunderKind?

Going of with T. Woods today could be just the right pressure for this guy...acute mental focus blended with Eastern discipline justaposed against Tiger’s grip it and rip it mentality off the tee, I think that’s where this round will be won or lost. Keep it in the fairway and make your pars, the first birdie presses.
Final grouping goes off at 1345h central...
Looks a little overcast and ~~~!WINDY!~~~
Anyone but tiger - classless and getting worst. (I’d prefer Michael Vick...but that’s another story)
