I studied French for three years in High School and in College, and didn’t have a lot of opportunities to use it. That was many years ago.
Now I deal with French speakers frequently, and can only remember the odd phrase here and there.

Use the internet and sw radio to keep current. It’s easy and doesn’t take much time - try No Pasaran and Dissident Frogman. Of course, you have to occasionally read Le Monde and all that crap too.

C’est dommage. You should be able to pick it up again, having 6 years of study. I had two and two with the last year in college a reading course, Camus and Sartre etc.
The resistance was strong in the Vercours area and are proud of the men and women who did wreak havoc on the Krauts. There are museums in Grenoble and the Vercours valley.
The German reprisals were really harsh, killing whole villages in some instances.
