Your premise (Four insurgents with crude weapons could tie up 150 Marines for most of a day.) is assuming that the Marines had the discretion to prosecute the engagement without having their hands tied by the pseudo -leaders in DC. I can say that if there was the choice to fully engage the enemy as it should have, their abilities (insurgents) would have been nothing more than a fart in the wind.

Agree. However, look at what happened in Vegas on Monday. ONE nut job. Crazy cops firing OVER 80 shots and then half the cops in Vegas spent the rest of the day looking for another shooter.
A very close family friend was in Iraq five years ago. 312 days. 312 patrols on the same route. 25 IED attacks. 27 Marines dead, 35 wounded and I am not sure how much equipment destroyed. Really foolish game.
