But as I said on the first posting of this I believe that beauty is when form follows function and there isn't a weapon on the planet that epitomizes that better than Sgt. Kalishnikov's design.
Yea, it could have some burled walnut furniture. Yea, it could have some fancy scrollwork. Nah.....who am I kidding. The beauty of the AK is its rugged utilitarian design, ease of manufacture, nearly flawless reliability, and absolutely unequalled man killing record.
I'm proud to own a few of them and I'm absolutely confident that I made the right choice to buy enough of them to equip my loved ones with them.
the 20# trigger pull on my 91/30 was like a safety, also the worst bolt action I’ve ever manipulated. I’m spoiled though having 5 SMLEs, which are butery smooth.
Don’t know my left from the right. Everything I mentioned is numbered from the left.
“worst bolt action”
Some carry a wooden mallet to clear a “sticky” bolt.
LOL
I’m still waiting on my CMP M1 Garand.
But my M1 Carbine will do until then.
Bingo! I've got an 1898 Lee-Enfield carbine, that's faster & smoother than any Krag I've ever handled...
;>)
Check out post #20. 7th from the left. Springfield M1 Garand in 30.06. Serial #’s match too. Love shooting that thing.
I’ve heard all my life how British soldiers in 1914 were so skilled in manipulating the SMLE with its 70 degree rotation so fast that the Germans thought the Brits were equipped with automatic weapons.
By the way; my kid (13 y/o) tied for first in his class and has a shoot-off to determine first or second tomorrow. Wooohoo! HUGE!
Panthers rock!!!!!
They are tight and straight...
now thats a family picnic :-)
Most excellent! Let us know how he does. Tell him congrats. from Indy.
I’m Jealous! I ordered a service grade M1 back in May and a can of 06 ammo. Still waiting. Quite a backlog I understand. I got an Email from them last week. They said they were working on the April orders.
The AK is a good rifle. However, I think the M14 is a superior weapon. Same caliber (7.62mm), but the M14 has a larger case, and more ooomph.
I’m sure any liberals reading this thread just shat their pants at the sight of all that firepower! Oohrah!
What are the weapons #1 and 2 from the left? One looks like a Bushmaster and the other a Colt? Is that an 1899 winchester shotgun in the mix?
Nice arsenal.
MFO
interesting , thank you
I'm jealous of the pistol-grip shotgun on the far right. Is that a Mossberg? I'm seriously thinking of a 500 "Tactical Cruiser" - pistol grip only, 18 1/2 barrel... Lots of intimidation factor.
