F1 Stuff... Metallica to headline at F1 Rocks™ in India
Rock aficionados are in for a treat at next month’s 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix of India after organisers announced multi-award winning USA heavy metal band Metallica are to headline the inaugural F1 Rocks™ in India concert.
Metallica, formed by guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich in 1981, are the seventh-biggest selling act in American history and have received 21 prestigious international awards, including nine Grammys.
The band has released a total of nine studio albums, but this will be the first time they have played a live show on the Indian continent. The concert, which is expected to attract up to 30,000 fans, will be held at Leisure Valley, Sector 29, Gurgaon on Friday October 28, ahead of India’s first F1 race at the new Buddh International Circuit on the Sunday.
“We are so excited to be playing a show in a place we never thought in our wildest dreams we’d get to play,” said Metallica. “It’s an honour for all of us that we get to be a part of that whole music scene as a metal band sharing our music with fans in India at this incredible concert!”

Sauber driver Sergio Perez will test for Ferrari at the team's Fiorano track on Thursday. The Mexican will be driving a 2009 F60 car as part of his training under Ferrari's young driver programme.
