The FIA has released a confirmed calendar for the 2012 season following a fax vote by members of the World Motor Sport Council. The addition of the United States round makes for a 20-race season, which will get underway in Australia on March 18. The season finale will take place in Brazil on November 25.

Wow. 20 races. And aren’t the Russkies angling for a race, too? I worry that F1 will overeaching like Nascar. Like Nascar they also appear to be abandoning their roots by limiting the races in Europe. I like the idea of rotating some races but it shouln’t be limited to Europe. They should rotate all of them on an18 or 16 race schedule. Make a North American swing 3 of 4 years.
