Brazil - Max ran down the inside to protect that line, Lewis came blowing bye on the outside. Max late braked Lewis to close the distance. The Redbull had more downforce which allowed Max to out brake Lewis. Max turned in, the car took a set (right side suspension compression) and Max maintained the same steering input throughout the corner. A front video showed Max's front tire lose grip (understeer) most likely do to exceeding the tire's friction circle limit (braking and cornering forces exceeded the tire's grip level). So Max's car was a car width off the right side of the track for a left hand corner, carried in too much speed and had understeer. The arc of the corner was always going to be out past the right hand exit of the corner due to the line taken, the understeering just caused Max's car to exceed the track limit. Max never changed the steering wheel angle, not to address the understeering nor opened the steering angle to 'run' Lewis off the track.
Now the real section of the video of the event was the location of Lewis's car. He was way outside the track limit. Why? Lewis knew Max's action would cause Max to go off track thus Lewis protected his car. If not Max would of hit Lewis.
Now go back to Lewis / Max at Silverstone. Roles reversed. Lewis divebombed Max on the inside, too much speed carried, tight arc cased Lewis to used all the track to the left at exit. Max did not appear to understand Lewis's action and thus was hit. I suspect that Lewis was moving Max over to the dirty side of the exit damaging his acceleration coming off the corner. Lewis just overcooked the corner and hit Max.
Now back to Brazil, I would suggest Max was just paying Lewis back for Silverstone. Lewis' Silverstone move was ok'ed so why not use it Max must of figured.
excellent analysis
