Michael Schumacher will make a shock return to Formula 1 to replace injured Ferrari driver Felipe Massa.
The seven-time world champion retired at the end of 2006 but will drive at the European Grand Prix on 23 August.
Ferrari said the 40-year-old will stand in for as long as Massa is sidelined by the serious head injuries he sustained in Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying.

It’s a miracle Massa survived that incident.
This will be fun. Ferrari has a competitive car again. He’ll have a chance to win, if he can drive like he used to.
Several of the teams (Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Williams, maybe more) are saying that Schumi can’t test in the F60 because of the testing ban. I agree, he should not be allowed to test in the current car. It may seem harsh, but the other teams have to represent the interests of their teams and sponsors.

Michael Schumacher to come out of F1 retirement July 29, 2009
I admit, a few days does tend to make something old nowadays.
Of course, you have to use the regular search engine, not the keyword one:
I think this will be very interesting. I only hope Renault manages to get their ban lifted in time for Valencia. As many pundits have pointed out, it is a harsh verdict to ban them from the race and it does nothing for the sport because it just hurts the fans. The Spanish want to see Alonso race. His wheel fell off. It happens sometimes. Wasn't his fault.
Anyway... Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton- all champions. And arguably the best ever, Schumi, all on the same track. With a weaker Ferrari (but one that is resurgent in the last race), McClaren much improved and a race circuit Schumi has never driven. Kimi not wanting to get shown up by the old man. And Jenson Button/ Brawn fighting the Red Bulls for the championship.
How does it get any better than that? You'd have to resurrect A Senna to make it any better.
On a side note, Nelson Piquet Jr was fired by Renault. So, they'll have somebody new sitting in the cockpit for their next race. I wonder who that might be? I was thinking it could be that new Spanish lad (with the mouthful for a name) who drove for Torro Rosso last week. His manager is Flavio Briatore (from Renault) if I am not mistaken.
