I can’t answer your specific question, but I can tell you that some of these companies are quite nasty. I had been waiting for my name to come available, so I put in a request at gate.com to tell me when it was available. I paid gate to let me know.
I got the notification and within 20 minutes after it became available, somebody in Norway snatched it up. Then he tried to sell it to me for $200. I told him to pound sand. I got it a year later. Clearly, gate.com sold the list of sites being waited for. At the very least it’s unethical, and possibly illegal.
I don’t trust any of those companies.

Yes why?
I transfered and sold a domain at sedo.com about a year ago. They told me precisely what I needed to do, and when. Their instructions were clear and sufficiently simple to follow that it was impossible to screw things up. Everything went exactly as planned and I received my share of the money in full wired to my stipulated New Zealand bank account. There were no hidden fees, just what we had agreed.
It was very professionally managed from end-to-end. I would not hesitate to recommend sedo.com on that basis — as you can see from this unsolicited public testimonial.
