I agree with you, I find some of these phrases annoying. However, as someone who was born and raised in the southern Appalachians, I probably shouldn’t complain. I can mangle the English language with the best of them. You’uns have a good day. I’m a fixin to go to work.-—JM
Something that I might say occasionally (though if I know it annoys someone, I use it all the time), is “I’m getting ready to quit,” or “I’m getting ready to stop.”
