Even if it was the 70’s or 80’s, whenever he got his ssn- he was required to show a birth certificate.
He needed an ssn and birth certificate to get his US passport to travel to Pakistan in 1981.
Presumably his assigned ssn, whenever he obtained it, would be coded based on place of birth shown in his birth certificate. Can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be

Even if it was the 70s or 80s, whenever he got his ssn- he was required to show a birth certificate. I got my SSN during that period and do not recall having to do anything other than fill out a form. I recall that it was extremely simple and as I was in high school at the time I don't think I would have known how to get a copy of my birth certificate and if I had taken the trouble to do this I would remember it.
