Jul 23 RadioShack Partners With Lance to Form New Cycling Team in 2010
by Brooke McMillan (LAF Staff)

RadioShack Corporation is proud to announce a partnership with seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong to form a new American Pro-Tour cycling team. Beginning in 2010, Lance Armstrong will compete for Team RadioShack as a cyclist, runner and triathlete in events around the world, including the 2010 Tour de France.

“This has been a great season so far – the response in the countries we’ve been to has been amazing and it’s clear now that this was the right choice. Utilizing the massive media attention that the sport receives has been the perfect vehicle to help spread the LIVESTRONG message around the world,” said Lance Armstrong. “To be able to compete for an American team comprised of the world’s top cyclists, supported by the best coaches and staff – I couldn’t be happier to partner with RadioShack, a truly iconic American brand,” said Lance Armstrong.

For more information about this partnership and to view a video message from Lance, please go to www.livestrong.com

I think you’re right.

Something far too many don’t understand these days, sometimes to be the team leader, you have to step OUT of the limelight and lead. ;)

I believe that may have cost Lance the opportunity to win, because he did not want to seem selfish, by outgunning his teammate? That was a big mistake if you ask me! - posted on Monday, June 28, 2010 2:29:38 AM by rawhide

Speaking of his ex-teammate, part of the drama on this year's tour will surely be seeing how Lance tries to settle that score with Contador who ended up not being very magnanimous in victory about all the help he got from Lance & his teammates in 2009. Team Astana has announced their lineup here:

- Alberto Contador (SPA)
- Alexandre Vinokourov (KAZ)
- David De la Fuente (SPA)
- Andriy Grivko (UKR)
- Jesus Hernandez (SPA)
- Maxim Iglinskiy (KAZ)
- Daniel Navarro (SPA)
- Benjamin Noval (SPA)
- Paolo Tiralongo (ITA)

Almost exclusively Kazakhstani & Spanish riders. We'll recall that Astana only let Johann out of his contract with them on the condition he wouldn't block Vino (who was banned from the sport for 1 yr for blood doping in 2007) from signing on with Astana.

Oh, & another blast from the past will be the return of Ivan Basso who got nabbed back in Operation Puerto (2006?) but is fresh off a win of this year’s Giro. He’s riding for Team Leaky Gas these days. ;-)

We will start a new thread on July 3rd or late July 2nd, and I'll ping everyone to the initial post that will have a map of the course, profile, and other info.

I'll do that each day thereafter for each stage and ping people directly to each day's first post.

We’re here.

Ready to tighten up the seat and put some air in the tires for another great TdF.

I know where I’ll be for the start.

You’ll ping us to the daily stages so we can zip right to ‘em, right?

Yes indeed, I'll ping everyone with the background post but the 'to' link will be to the graphics post.

are you gonna be asking your crackerjack secretarial & administrative support staff to help out posting the stats & maps & stage profiles under your screen name every day too

LOL, oh, you are bad! That may depend on how smart my brother is. ;>)

Well, in her defense she is 48 years old, so even if she looks pretty decent for her age compared to many of her peers, she's not gonna look 19.

And perhaps her 48 y o mind has deteriorated prematurely so that she's not aware she doesn't look 19 anymore and prolly ought not to get up on a stage half-nekkid and blithely advertise that fact.

Really, though, if anything it speaks rather well of his own, er... physical fitness that he doesn't have to be with a 19 year old fitted out with FDA certified factory manufactured implants & collagen injected lips to get his party on, IYKWIMAITYD. ;-)

Yay, Dolly! Good to see ya here! You are on my master list (descended from nutmeg’s from years ago) so I’m pretty sure you’d be on Bay’s & R4R’s & they’re handling the pings.
