Good post, however I am constantly amazed by the number of people on FR that are unable to comprehend the plain meaning of the term "natural born citizen". It has always been known to mean (paraphrasing the quote of John A. Bingham, (R-Ohio) US Congressman, Architect of Section 1 of the 14th Amendment)
a person born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty.
Both parents must be citizens in order for their child to be a "natural born citizen." Why do people have such a hard time understanding that?

NO it hasn't, John Bingham's error not withstanding.

Pretty straightforward, isn't it? Sadly, people see what they want to see and don't pay attention to the circumstance of the time or original intent. At least some of us get it -- a lot of us, actually -- and I'm pleased to be in such good company.

Im on the side of Philip Berg and the rest who are questioning Obamas eligibility, but I believe that Obama would be a natural born citizen if he was born in Hawaii. One of his parents was a citizen, and for the sake of argument, he was born in this country. There has never been any court ruling that has dealt with the issue of one parent not being a citizen and another parent being a citizen. Theres no reason to bring this up anyway, because he has not shown a birth certificate. If he has a birth certificate, then he is eligible to serve.
