I bought one for my transcontinental road trip in 2003. The CB frequencies were very busy. Most of it was kids making garbage transmissions, but some of it was useful. I eavesdropped on the trucker freqs for useful local intel sometimes.

That's good to know. So if ‘something’ was to happen to the phone lines and cell phone towers, folks still have CB’s as a mode to communicate, especially for picking up intel. Nice! I have walkie-talkies stored away in case ‘something’ ever happens.
