Actually, both of Hitler's parents were Austrian and both born in what was then the Austro-Hungarian Empire, where young Adolph was raised. The break-up of the Austro-Hungarian Empire after World War I resulted in young Adolph drifting across national boundaries, not just those adjusted as a result of the war.

It would probably be more accurate to describe him as Bohemian rather than Austrian or German. And, yes, he was a murderous s.o.b., but he had a better sense of country than BO.
