Young'uns get their music from other sources these days. WBCN's ratings were awful and they figured sports talk would be a better sell, so that's what they'll do, as "WBZ-FM" albeit on 98.5, in mid August.

In the mid-1980s you could hear Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, et al on this station. But also deep cuts from the Beatles and even Sex Pistols cuts like Holiday In The Sun and artists like Ian Dury.

How can any station today call itself “alternative rock” when there is no commercial broadcast support for genuine rock and roll by contemporary acts (who often reside on smaller labels just as they did in the 1950s and 1960s until the “hits” were picked up for redistribution by larger labels)?

I have heard WFNX (101.7) play Led Zeppelin and the Beatles multiple times in the last week or so.
