Viola said while peddling without a license is illegal in Haverford Township, those laws do not apply to children under the age of 16. Street vendors with children under 16 suddenly have an idea.

The cop wanted kick backs from the kids. They said no and spit in his lemon-aid. So he shut them down,

The article doesn’t give a clue how old these children were. Assuming they were quite young (as lemonade stand operators usually are), the caller may have been concerned that they were awfully young to be doing door-to-door sales without adult supervision.
I’m also wondering if this sales effort was purporting to be connected with the Alex’s Lemonade Stand charity, and the caller was wondering if it was legitimate. The late Alex Scott, founder of Alex’s Lemonade Stand, lived with her family just a couple of miles from Haverford (in Wynnewood), so Alex’s Lemonade Stand has been a big deal in this area for many years (before it went national).

It must be nice to live in a town where there is so little crime that the police have the time to respond to every busybody’s complaint.

“The police officer would have no way of knowing this on the street,” Viola told the Inquirer.
“...because he has no brain. How can police officers be expected to make correct decisions without brains?” Viola asked. “I myself would have shot the children, although I am told that would have been the incorrect decision also. So you see, we cannot be blamed, because we are brainless.” he concluded.

That's good news for the "medical" marijuana lobby.

"We all sold lemonade when we were kids," As the Obamas have stated, our nation's traditions and history "must CHANGE".

I’m curious. Isn’t there a voice that goes thru your head that says “there is no upside and only an insane amount of downside” when you shut down a kid’s lemonade stand? Or are cops stupid and robotic enough to the point where they just don’t listen to that anymore.
