The anniversary of the moon landing never goes by that I do not remember that it is the day she died.
A few years ago there was a special about the first moon landing. Several clebs were interviewed about their memories of that event. Dennis Miller was one of them. He started talking about Mary Jo Kopechne and the lunar landing happening the same day. He said that here we have the biggest story ever in our history and now we have a competing story.
And a Kennedy was involved with both stories.
Day or two apart, actually. Mary Jo died late July 18th / early 19th. The moon landing was the 20th, with the EVA later that night.
But they are linked in my mind, too.
