Mozilla moves fast to fix security flaw

Mountain View, California - Mozilla has released an update to Firefox that fixes a security flaw discovered in the last week.
The company has moved fast to make Firefox 3.5.1 available for Windows, Mac, and Linux users as a free download. It resolves a Just-in-Time (JIT) JavaScript compiler flaw in version 3.5 which left users at risk of memory corruption and malware infection.
Last week, "SBerry" posted proof of concept code that exploited the way Firefox 3.5 processes JavaScript code when handling FONT tags in HTML.
"In certain cases after a return from a native function, such as escape(), the Just-in-Time (JIT) compiler could get into a corrupt state. This could be exploited by an attacker," said Mozilla. The security advisory is here.

The update made a world of difference. Our computer was running so slow after updating to 3.5 but I am still getting Script Errors in my Yahoo mail since upgrading.

The initial boot time was ridiculous in Mozilla. They've fixed it.
Do you mean Thunderbird?

Microsoft has no fix for Internet Explorer. Do not use it. Download Mozilla. It uninstalls easily if you don't like it.

Yeah, I just did an update because of the Java problem, now I’m having problems with Firefox saying it’s having problems opening because of a tab that was opened just before shutting down. :~( Didn’t have any problems with the prior versions of FF I’ve used.

To all Mozilla users: I was once like you. I stuck to Mozilla (or Seamonkey) for years and years and years. But recently I realized that it had become a resource hog, and I went a-searching for another browser. And I found it. And it’s the best web browser in existence. It is Opera. It takes a bit to learn the quirks, but once you do, you realize it is the most user-friendly browser out there.
