Paul Azinger (a died-in-the-wool Republican) commented about this today. He said something to effect of, “They’re tremendous friends despite clearly being from different sides of the isle”. Watson is an unabashed Republican as well.

Smerconish ( back in the day I listened to him) had this guy on; although I only caught him the one time, it seemed hat it was an ongoing series, but mostly based on jet -setter envy themes.

I saw Tom Watson almost come to tears at the 18th, and wondered what that was all about. It appears it was because of the reference to Bruce Edwards. Their last tournament together, both knew it was the last and the ending was very emotional...
