Ha, what a great article. Well said! I second it!
LMAO - Great observation!
"Rice and Beans" qualifies me"...
(BTW, I love Rice and Beans)
EXCELLENT !!!!
Mac
Very potent.
I’d like to hear that come out of a Republicans mouth
when he’s questions her ability to follow the
constitution.
After my Father died, my Mother (with a 6th grade education from a 3rd world Latin country) came to New York City with her mother and my brother and I in tow. She worked in a sweat shop in the garment district until she could buy a home (in her 50’s) in Florida......never did she take welfare.
She put me thru Catholic school. My brother served our country by enlisting in the Army. Although I never was fortunate to attend college, my children are or are studying to be professionals. She dearly loved America, and would quickly rebuke those who complained or whined.
On my wall hangs the flag she held when she became a citizen, proudly framed. She instilled in me the love I have for my country.
Now there was a “Wise Latina”!
Mac, did you send it to anyone? FReepmail me if it’s okay to mail it to my list of favorite Senators.
I was a paramedic in the Bronx in the late 1980’s. Most people who could get out, got out. Much like Sotomayor. Too bad she couldn’t just say that, “nice place to come after Puerto Rico, but we got out as soon as we could.” Instead she has to act like she still wants to live there. And did she ever go back to tutor, mentor, or do anything for her old neighborhood? Doubt it.
BTW, I can’t stand people (usually liberals) who think that by speaking slowly, they sound more intelligent. I heard about five minutes of her confirmation hearings and wanted to puke. Interesting that if you listen to old audio of her, ranting about the wise latina BS, she speaks in a normal cadence, but for the Senate, it was like playing an old record on the slow speed.
Excellent. Thanks for posting.
Excellent.
That was the net effect, but in many neighborhoods it started through our own bigotry. The first blacks to move into better neighborhoods were generally the doctors, lawyers, businessmen or other professionals; they could afford it. Some whites did not choose to stay long enough to see what kind of neighbors they would be, but sold in a panic. They accepted lower offers than prior sales, and paved the way for investors to convert formerly owner occupied homes to rental properties.
Then the misguided social programs that started in the 60's destroyed the black family and caused most of today's problems.
Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding!! Incredible truth!
Stopped reading at this point: “kind of like Michael Jackson, only not as feminine. “
Sick of the sexism from the left, sure don’t want to hear it from the right.
There are plenty of reason to not like Sotomayor, her looks and clothes aren’t amongst them.
According to ManhattanKids, it's 999 square feet. Purchased eleven years ago for $360k with two mortgages totaling $324k. Her apartment is now in hock a total of $533,581. It is Zestimated to be worth $1.3m, down $108K in the last month. However, a commenter on ManhattanKids suggests $900k tops would be more like it. So, she'll probably make a few hundred thousand when she sells it. What should she do in DC? Rent until prices bottom?
On her 2007 Financial Disclosure Report, she lists bank accounts totaling 50 to 115k as her only financial assets. According to the Washington Post,
When asked recently how she managed to file such streamlined reports, Sotomayor, according to a source, replied, "When you don't have money, it's easy. There isn't anything there to report."
So, I think our wise Latina was one of the ones Barney Frank had in mind when he helped quash attempts to rein in Fannie and Freddie. Her apartment has provided a nice supplement to her measly judicial salary.
Excellent post, Mac.
“MissTicky”’s droppings speak for themselves.
Well done. Very well done.
