I want to buy a new gun (or 2) and need some suggestions....

Ok, here's my inventory. I have an old 12 gauge single shot in decent condition, and two handguns. A Sig P220 (45 ca) and a 9mm Glock (for work). I have some cash that will be worth less than it is now fairly soon, so I figure to invest in one or two more firearms. I would like suggestions and if you have any idea of price ranges just to narrow the focus. I'll have to go and try them out.

Thanks for that. I looked all over for something as clear as that. The manual is useless. I was using light loads yesterday morning and it was a single shot.

Hard to beat a Ruger 10/22.

If you can't own an AR-15 in NY, check out the Remington 7615 Police .223

The pumps are a lot cheaper, just slower and have limited magazine capacity.

No more limited than an autoloader of the same barrel length, except for those few that accept external magazines.

But since pumps are less expensive you can still afford something like an AR-15, or your budget is tight an AK type, even and SKS is a pretty decent weapon. Pumps are simpler and most think more rugged.

I agree with the multiple recommendations for a shotgun, if you don’t already have one. Its combination of versatility and fearsome destructiveness can’t be beat. I have a parkerized police model 870 with a 20” open cylinder barrel and 7 round magazine extension, but they say the autoloaders are every bit as reliable nowadays.

Get a good lever action carbine in a rifle caliber.

Great advice. A .30-30 "cowboy gun" is just about the last kind of gun that will ever be outlawed, and for 85% of situations it is equal or superior to a smaller caliber assault rifle.

The off-brand ARs (Les Baer, Bushmaster, et al, can use only .223 rounds. The Colt can use .223 or NATO 5.56.

Not true, the can be had with either type of chamber. Most come with the chamber which allows either type of ammo to be used. Even the Mini-14 can now handle either type of ammo. My AR kit is still on backorder, and is two weeks overdue to be shipped.(I do have the lower though).

These are the easuest to find ammo for

Haven't tried to buy .22 LR recently, have you. BTW, I have a 10-22, and a 22/45 and A Colt Woodsman target model. But that's just the .22s (also a .22 conversion kit for my AR, but I don't have the AR yet).

I just would buy one or two not on the hate list for when the court is Obamaized.

You intend to turn in, or let them take, the others?

I don't, so I have as many politically incorrect guns as I can afford.

This was then

This is now

Remember The Alamo!

Remember Gonzales!

I have the Marlin lever action in .357 too. That is a sweet little gun.

The really nice thing about the Marlin .357 for home defense is that it holds 9 + 1 rounds and the sound of the lever is very intimidating. The rife shoots very well at 100 yards or less and even without a scope I can group 3 rounds very tight.

Is this for enjoyment, hunting or home defense.

You do not have a rifle.
If you are never ever going to hunt big game get a nice .22 rifle like a CZ American bolt action .22 with nice walnut stock.

The Gonzales Flag is certainly one of my favorites. However
when BHO sends about a hundred brown shirts to surround your house, you will lose the weapons just like in Waco and Ruby Ridge. BHO said they will be as well equipped and funded as the military. So with this much fire power he can tear down every Gonzales flag flying. Our only salvation will be a military revolt which will come long ater the era of the
Brownshirts. I still think my advice is sound. Buy all the ammo you can lay hands on to take care of the scroungers.

While it's true that the first flag they tear down and the first guns they seize will be "easy", although they did lose several BATF blackshirts at Waco, right off the bat.

The second flag and second set of guns will be harder, and by the 10th or 100th..., well, they'll be lucky to be able to marshal at the local federal building or airport, let alone survive to arrive at their target.

The hogs will be well fed for a while.

Most manufacturers make compliant versions of AR’s.

Good afternoon. Some good post here, number 2 is a good start.

I'd go with the Moss 500, and a Colt AR15. If you're lucky, maybe $1400 for both.

Fairly cheap ammo in 5.56mm, and 12 gage. Go to the range and zero your weapon. Remember you're going have to keep the AR really clean.

Light carry weight for both weapons, so you can carry more ammo and things. A sling, scope and case are good purchases.

Like any tool, you buy for purpose. The shotgun is effective at close range, the AR can reach out and touch someone.

Let me know what you decide.

5.56mm
