WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. A program to eradicate invasive pythons from Florida's Everglades began Friday with a slithering success: Trappers caught a nearly 10-footer within about an hour of setting out, a shock to even the experts.
"It surprised us," said Shawn Heflick, a herpetologist who helped capture the snake Friday. "If you would have told me yesterday I was going to go out there today and that quickly find one, I would have called you a liar."

Not a big Brit fan but Salma Hayek’s snake dance in “From Dusk Til Dawn” is by far the sexiest dancing scene I have ever seen...

Statistically speaking it’s a very bad sign that they found a 10 foot python so quickly after beginning the search and even while reporters were accompanying the search party.

Yeah, it’s real. There were plenty of stories on it. A state game helicopter saw it, and took photos.

I’m rooting for the gators. (I’m a nativist.)

Are they breading albino (yellow) pythons? I see them frequently on TV and in zoos. Even my local zoo has one. I’ve also seen them in a small zoo in Florida.
To: JoeProBono
Problem is we can hunt em on state land but the big federal lands down here will not let them be hunted on for the snake. So the fed lands will be the breeding grounds for a long time.
