I think it took me six months to complete, as I did the Nativity from the local ceramic store. So there was a lot of work in it. When it was ready to hang, I strung white mini-lights from the inside, and used silk rosebuds for the only other decoration.

I wish I still had it...

Yep, I did all the Nativity pieces myself; Igor hung the light/coffee can, and the rest was all me. It made front page of the local paper.

Tired. A little “thick” because of the fatigue, but I’m OK. I can focus on the bracelets off and on, and that’s good.

But looking forward to the last few chapters of Inspector Lynley. :o] (Wish I could afford to get the series...!)

Okay... don't know the book.

Am reading the "Shahnameh" -- epic Persian poem translated into English (mostly as) prose. 800+ pages, but it speaks volumes about Persian culture. (And even in this they didn't like the Arabs.)

Rostam and (his horse) Rakhsh is a well-beloved part of the story and one I've heard about often, but as a Westerner I had to laugh last night when I read about the earlier story of the beautiful Rudabeh and how she let down from her tower, for her lover to climb, her long black hair.

The children’s section at the library has beautifully illustrated books of folktales from many different cultures. It’s fun to see the various versions of similar plots.

My group sang unaccompanied at Mass - it went just fine. Now I have to go to Wal-mart.

LoM and the youngest sionnsareen will be joining our Scots Gaelic to perform ancient working (specifically "waulking") songs in Gaelic at the Evergreen State Fair (in Monroe), as we've done for several years now.

End of summer is fair season here. First the Evergreen State Fair, then the huge fair known mainly as "(Do) The Puyallup" because that's where it is.

Is this the songs for throwing your cloth to set the weave?

Yes. Also called milling or fulling the tweed. It starts out with a very open weave and draws in as the fibers intertwine.

LoM is leading Alasdair Mhic (jazzed-up with instruments and pretty pictures of Scotland) and the modern An Toll Dubh (The Black Hole -- i.e. dungeon).

In the second video you'll see a picture of a waulking -- women seated around the table. The sound track doesn't bring out the song very well, but then it's all in Gaelic anyway. You can hear the refrain "Le eiginn ar-neiridh as ar suain..." (sounds like 'lay aching our nerry as our sue wine"):
