Another classic piece of adolescence and young adulthood bites the dust.
RIP, WBCN.

Worry the bottle Mamma, it's grapefruit wine
Kick off your high heel sneakers, it's party time
The girls don't seem to care what's on
As long as it plays till dawn
Nothin' but blues and Elvis
And somebody else's favorite song
Give her some funked up music, she treats you nice
Feed her some hungry reggae, she'll love you twice
The girls don't seem to care tonight
As long as the mood is right
FM - no static at all

Boy, I came of age listening to Charles Laquidara, (and his alter ego Duane Glasscock,) the Cosmic Muffin, and the all the GOOD music of the time played on BCN.

I remember listening to Bradley J, the fag Mark Parenteau, Billy West, etc. They brought in Nick Carter from WFNX and the place just started going downhill from there...

It was a race. Who would be the first? Would WBCN report the demise of the Boston Globe, or would the Globe report the demise of WBCN?

Don’t forget Carlos the Computer. And the Sam Kinison station promos. Those were great.

Owner CBS Radio Boston said today that the legendary station is going off the air in a complicated shuffle intended to make room for a new sports/talk format. In Spanish?

Nope. English. Another cookie-cutter sports talk format.

wow, how sad. I still miss the lunch hour songs circa 1980...where else would the Stones’ “Shattered” have turned into “Chowder”?.
Those were the days....

Ingles Yup.Although with his accent I was never certain that he wasn't saying "Engles".
What a shock. The end of an era.

It was actually Ingalls. Between the accent and all the coke they were doing at the time, it’s amazing we could understand anything that was said on that show.
