Glad you vented! :)
Thank you... We need to be reminded of their wise words from time to time. Perfect timing too.
Thank you for your service....
HA! I think I’ll buy one of those for a special outting.
But don't get a black eye. Peaceniks are anything but peaceful.
I thank you for your service and sacrifice, but that doesn’t even begin to cover it.
To all of America’s veterans:
May God bring you comfort and health. May He always be with you in your time of need. May He heap blessings on you and those you love.
Naive
Do you mean the question is naïve or something else is naïve?
Doesn’t bother me at all, I even loosely sewed a very good looking uniform version of one on my dress uniform once. It had the American flag and eagle incorporated into it and looked almost like a bold, very good looking army patch.
It was entertaining to watch the double takes from the other guys in the unit.
Thank you for this question. I am a US Army Veteran who served in the Middle East in 2004 and 2005. My father was a Gunners Mate on the USS Lake Champlain in WWII. What he would say about that symbol is not fit to print in this forum. As a young man I would watch the peace protestors on TV with one hand hoisting that sign while simultaneously throwing rocks, bottles and Molotov cocktails at the police and burning down their own campuses. For the record I am a police officer. That is the symbol of those who spat on our returning war veterans. Today was apparently International Peace Day throughout the world and my children attended some sort of ceremony were they placed pinwheels in the shape of the 1960s peace symbol at a public school. I was dumfounded. Why would they use a symbol from the 1950s and 1960s? The 1960s, when Woodstock was in full swing and the concert goers where practicing free love and experimenting with LCD while over 100 US Servicemen and women died in Viet Nam in a single weekend! Why wouldnt they use a less offensive symbol (at least for Vets) like the dove and olive branch? I can only guess that they wanted to stick it to the less liberal persons in town. Well Im going to stick back. I have always taught my children that the peace symbol is the footprint of a coward. Peace is a lofty goal. I teach my kids to sing Let There be Peace on Earth and Let it Begin with Me at my parish every Sunday. Peace, however is far below the goals of Freedom, Liberty, Justice and Security. I will make war with anyone who tries to take this away. We are at war. Soldiers and Marines are taking it to our enemy all across the globe. That symbol is comfort to the enemy. Ill never forget September 11th, even if my childrens elementary school will.
