“NOT NEUTERED”...
This is a huge component to these attacks. The unpredictable aggression/snap in this breed of dog decreases noticeably when they are spayed/neutered. At least according to the pit bull folks I talked to on FR in the past.
Yes, it would be interesting to see statistics on this. I suspect the vast majority of pit bulls and other dogs involved in serious attacks are not spayed or neutered. With the pits, in particular, many of the sort of people they’re popular with don’t give a crap about sterilizing their pets, and want the male dogs to both look like intact males and act aggressively. Many of them are people who wouldn’t get their macho dog neutered if you paid them to.
