Time for the year's 3rd major championship(already)and the only one of the 4 that is not played on this side of the Atlantic.
This year's event takes us to the west coastline of Scotland, to Royal Turnberry Golf Club where I'm sure the weather will have a lot to do with who wins and who doesn't win.
So what storyline is going to be written this time.....
Can Padraig win for the 3rd year in a row? Is Tiger going to tie his buddy Roger and win his 15th Major? Can Greg Norman turn the fountain of youth on again, but keep it on Sunday too and shock the world? Or do even bigger underdogs, like John Daly or David Duval revisit past glory? Or do stars like Paul Casey, Sergio, Ernie, Anthony Kim or others get the big prize come Sunday night?
Who do you think will hold the Claret Jug come Sunday??
Early weather forecast for the weekend, intermittent rain showers with highs in the low 60's.
Tiger tees off at 4:09AM EDT(9:09AM BST)on Thursday.

Watched an interview with him on the Golf Channel this morning. First I've seen him up close in a real long time. Boy, has he put on the weight.....and FWIW, I think Lefty Mickelson plays much more consistent with the weight off. With the problem with his wife's illness tho, I suspect he might slack off of his physical training and put some weight back on......
It feels like Turnberry outside. Nice and cool with some wind and rain. Looks kind of bland out there at the moment, maybe some low numbers can be put up early. But the wind is up though so we’ll see.
Hey it’s a live thread, post scores if you wish. Like Ernie’s opening bird to get to even.
Calc has put on some lbs. to be sure and hopefully Phil can keep busy enough to keep off what hee took off early in the year.
I’ve heard that Boo Weekley has dropped some lbs. too. I don’t know if I’ve noticed, though..
Check out the pants on JD today. Shaqadiffic yellow maybe??
WOW!!!
And how about being 30 years older than the guy he's tied with??...:o)
My Dad had a real problem with Tom Watson. He probably would even more so now.
Sometimes back in the 80s or early 90s, Watson was doing an interview about the Masters and said something to the effect that he wished the older winners would just step aside and open up more slots for the younger guys to be let in.
Now, he is an older guy. Does he plan to step aside so younger golfers can take his slot?
(I don’t think he should myself.....I just think it was a really dumb thing for him to have said)
Think Bruce isn’t looking down smiling right now?
Wind is rough but no rain yet, and Tom hasn’t flinched. Not one little bit.
Marino falling off the board, Goosen in big trouble at 7.....
And Tom just keeps going along. But a bogey on 6 brings him to -4.
I know Bruce is watching on Heavenly TV.
Probably because his freezer supply of wild game has been diminished until next hunting season opens.
Seriously, though, I like Boo and really think the tour needs more guys with his outlook on life. He is refreshing, and seems pretty approachable.
Guys like Boo are really good for golf. He loves life his way, simple and easy going.
Daly misses the birdie opportunity on 17, stays +2.
On the practice green as a kid I was always Watson putting for birdie to win at The Open.
4 holes to go and still tied for the lead. This just keeps getting better and better.
Watson was out in the muck looking for Marino’s ball. Gentlemanly, but he was exerting a lot of energy. He should’ve been concentrating on his own upcoming bunker shot.
Marino is taking way too long deciding what to do here. ...and now, after almost ten minutes of pondering, he looks like he’s going back to the tee.
...actually, Marino went back some, but not all the way back to the tee.
He could have gone back to the tee, which he should have in the first place, but decided to go back away and will at least take a double. 18 minutes passed before Tom hits that bunker shot. Now he takes bogey to drop to -2.
At least 17 is a birdie opportunity. Marino triples 15, ouch!!!
