I’ve told my boy that his pets will wait for him in heaven; my husband has said that even our gerbils have a little kernel of a soul.

My mom used to tell me as a kid that animals have MORTAL souls—they have souls but when they die, the soul dies, too, so it is up to us to make their heaven here.

The Bible doesn’t tell us if our pets go to Heaven, but I think that they do.

Here is the way I see it. The Bible says that God made everything in creation good (Gen 1). The Bible also says that only good will enter in the new heaven and earth (Rev). Now, if animals were good then, why wouldn’t they be good after Christ comes again? It was man that mucked things up. I firmly believe that there will be animals in heaven, and my wife has already claimed rights to the squirrels :>)

I saw that episode not a week ago. My, how television has changed, and not for the better, since the day that was first aired.

We share your grief for the loss of a dear creature, we just lost a cat that was family. For you, one of Jeffer’s poems that strikes a chord for folks that love pets....

The House Dog’s Grave
by Robinson Jeffers (1887-1962)
I’ve changed my ways a little; I cannot now
Run with you in the evenings along the shore,
Except in a kind of dream; and you,
If you dream a moment,
You see me there.

So leave awhile the paw-marks on the front door
Where I used to scratch to go out or in,
And you’d soon open; leave on the kitchen floor
The marks of my drinking-pan.

I cannot lie by your fire as I used to do
On the warm stone,
Nor at the foot of your bed; no,
All the nights through I lie alone.

But your kind thought has laid me less than six feet
Outside your window where firelight so often plays,
And where you sit to read‚
And I fear often grieving for me‚
Every night your lamplight lies on my place.

You, man and woman, live so long, it is hard
To think of you ever dying.
A little dog would get tired, living so long.
I hope that when you are lying
Under the ground like me your lives will appear
As good and joyful as mine.

No, dears, that’s too much hope:
You are not so well cared for as I have been.
And never have known the passionate undivided
Fidelities that I knew.
Your minds are perhaps too active, too many-sided...
But to me you were true.

You were never masters, but friends. I was your friend.
I loved you well, and was loved. Deep love endures
To the end and far past the end. If this is my end,
I am not lonely. I am not afraid. I am still yours.

I have tears in my eyes right here at my desk in the faculty room of our school reading all the wonderful words you all have written . It does help ease the pain a bit , believe me . It was a shame that Momo couldn’t have held on another week . She was my daughter’s dog and she’ll be coming home on Friday to take a test for her teaching license . We called her last night to tell her the sad news . I could hear her crying through the telephone receiver and I was standing 15 feet away .

In the book of Genesis, when God makes a covenant with Noah after the flood, He also tells the animals that they will be judged. I think that points to animal life after death. Then in the book of Revelation, Yahshua returns to earth riding on A WHITE HORSE. These two factors tell me our Father knows heaven wouldn’t be heaven without our beloved pets :) and I have a pack of them waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

“Heaven wouldn’t be heaven without dogs.”

I completely agree. I have a hard time believing God would bless us with these wonderful, loving creatures for only the short time we have them with us.

When we went to the vet’s late last night to have Momo put to sleep , he told us that earlier in the day he had to put a 6 year old Corgi to sleep and it had the same disease your dog does . Hope she stays with you as long as possible , and you see her again someday . Her facial expression exudes love , intelligence and gentleness .

I saw an old Twilight Zone and the Old Man wouldn’t go into what he thought was heaven without his beloved dog. He later found out that wasn’t heaven but the other place, he went to heaven with his dog

Momo will be right at your daughter’s side during that test.

(Gen 9:15 KJV) And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

(Gen 9:16 KJV) And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I also believe that all our pets are waiting to greet us in heaven.
And I too, have quite a pack of them already there.

Everyone agrees that we just really can't know until we get there, but the coolest thing came to me the other day:

The bible DOES say that there are at least horses in heaven! Jesus and the armies of heaven will be riding white horses at the second coming!.

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Revelation 19:11-14
