Jamestown, CA -- The Highway Patrol is reporting the death of 51 year old Russell J. Ramirez of Jamestown.
Ramirez died at 8:50 this morning at Modesto Memorial Hospital of the injuries he suffered when he was run over by a 2005 Toyota driven by 44 year old Charles L. Johnson of Soulsbyville at approximately 3:40 this morning. Johnson was westbound traveleing at a speed of 60mph when the accident occured.
According to the C.H.P. report Ramirez departed the Rosa Linda Motel (Winking Lantern) in an intoxicated state. He then apparently fell asleep on the Hwy 108 pavement where he hit by Johnson.
According to C.H.P. Officer Mike Remmel Ramirez was dressed in dark clothing.
He was run over (imagine that) and died. I just can't imagine what would possess a person to be that drunk or that stupid.
The poor guy that ran over him will probably have his life ruined!

Nice first post, what the heck did you wait 7 years for?
wow. the rest of the stupids work for Obama
He was run over by a Charles Johnson? Did he look like little green footballs?
Well.... don’t know. Usually I just comment on other posts. I’m thinking, though, that I need to get a little better at Free Republic as it seems to be the best media outlet going!
We had someone fall asleep on the rail road tracks and got cut in half. There was also a story of two girls (I think Alabama) who enjoyed tanning on the railroad tracks, and one of them got a leg cut off and of course they sued the railroad.
Of course they did. No personal responsibility there!
Was told a story about two or three black dudes in Eastern Arkansas back in the 70s who laid down in the middle of the highway on a foggy morning in the hopes of someone stopping so they could steal their vehicle. They became speed bumps. One lived to tell the story but they didn’t get much sympathy from the good ole boys and girls in the area.
Last I checked, my home state of North Carolina had the proud distinction of leading the nation in “lying in the road” deaths.
These deaths typically occur in cooler weather, though. Cool but not cold, otherwise the drunks wouldn’t be tottering about on the shoulder of the road at night in the first place.
The pavement retains heat, the drunks lay down to get warm, pass out, and there you go.
There actually was a study done by one of the state universities on this.
Whatever else the study demonstrated, the editorial concluded, It also is true and painfully obvious that not all of the South will rise again.
Dr. Harris says there is little to be hopeful about in the reports findings. In the end, the most sardonic and cynical thing you can say, I suppose, is that weve defined here a baseline of human behavior which no traffic safety measure will ever be able to correct.
It’s good to see it is not just in California that stupidity is front and center! I feel better having company :)
RIP.
