When you eat steamed crabs are you a dipper, a swiper or a sauce-maker? A dipper removes the crab meat from the shell then drops it in a bowl of liquid, usually apple-cider vinegar or melted butter. A swiper rubs the crab meat quickly over the bits of seasoning clinging to the shell. A sauce-maker combines ingredients, usually mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup, then drags the crab meat through this creation. There is also another option: None of the above. That is, just eating the crab meat as soon as it pops out of the shell....

How about you eat your veggies and not worry about everyone else.

Living on the West coast I consume Dungeness crab. I love any way - right out of the shell when it is still hot, dipped in butter with lemon, seasoned mayo, made into crab cakes, in pasta, crab melts, crab enchiladas, hot crab dip with artichoke hearts, crab omelets, in cioppino, and on and on.

Suggest stop steaming live animals, gorging yourselves, and adding even more fat to your waist lines. Your post is prima facie evidence that you take far too much interest in how other people live their lives. That's the opposite of conservative.
To be fair, you would seem to fit right into the Maryland political scene, however.

Those Alaskan crabs need to be dipped in butter. Good old blue crab properly steamed in Old Bay is best eaten right out of the shell

I love crabbing trips to the coast when it is time to plunge our catch into the huge pot of boiling water. Nothing beats catching and cooking those tasty spiders when camping on the coast.

I was born in Baltimore but moved to Virginia in the 70s. I still cant get steamed crabs like they make em in Ball-mer.
Capt'n Pells (Rte 50 in Fairfax) will get you by in a pinch, but go straight home afterwards. You'll reek of Old Bay all night.

My uncle and aunt had a crab feast for their rehersal dinner. Thought my aunt’s mother was going to have a stroke. Hauled crabs from Baltimore to Philly and steamed them on location. Talk about a party and it still gets talked about 25 years later.

It seems I had a lot of fresh winter cod, and being bored with preparing it the usual ways, tried this recipe .... it was wonderful! You could substitute haddock also.
POOR MAN'S LOBSTER
1 lb. cod, cut into chunks
2 c. water
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
Add salt and Old Bay to water and vinegar and bring to a boil. Add fish; simmer gently 15-20 minutes. Drain and serve with melted butter. Serves 4.
