The current Luo thug, and Zero’s cousin Odinga’s father was in the uprising to his eyeballs but later had a falling out Kenyatta.
My favorite apocryphal story was the British were paying a bounty for “Kikuyu Arms”, meaning weapons.... guess what some Masai brought in? :)

... The Mau-Mau...
Ping to article; and link at #3, ... gruesome.
Recommended books: by author Robert Ruark.
I’d read Ruark’s novels about the Mau Mau. While accurate they were lightweight reporting the atrocities.
Was this the origin of the title of Tom Wolfe’s 1970 article “Mau Mauing the Flak-Catchers”? If so, its a good connection between what BO’s grandfather did in Kenya and what BO is encouraging others to do here.
>>>When the Mau-Mau demanded that blood be shed, long-standing associations and friendships between black and white were no longer considered something of value.
Something of Value (1957)
Rock Hudson ... Peter
Dana Wynter ... Holly
Sidney Poitier ... Kimani Wa Karanja
Ivan Dixon ... Lathela, Loyal Gun-Bearer
Even though Peter and Kimani grow up together, Kimani soon finds that different races are treated differently. After the father of Kimani is jailed for following tribal customs, Kimani joins a band of rebels that wants all non-Kenyans out of their country. While Kimani believes in the cause, he does not agree with the indiscriminate killing of women, children and those who will not join or agree with them. Peter, even after the deaths of his little sister and brother by the Mau Mau, still believes that there is a chance for peaceful co-existence. He believes that he can stop most of the killing if he can only reason with Kimani.
